A representative from the Woodstock Police Department spoke Friday morning at the Main Street Morning Buzz Meeting and announced that Woodstock PD is now monitoring Nation of Neighbors web portal as part of a Neighborhood Watch program. According to the rep (sorry I missed his name), there are 73 neighborhoods in Woodstock and only 1 of them have a an active neighborhood watch. The trends of society where people come home and escape from the hustle and bustle of life has damaged neighbor relations to the point that no one even looks out for each other any more.
Technology May Change the Trend
“Nation of Neighbors is Neighborhood Watch for the 21st century. We facilitate real-time collaboration within communities and between community members and Law Enforcement. Our mission is to enable Citizens and Law Enforcement to work together to fight and deter crime and improve our communities.”
The Basics of the System
Nation of Neighbors accepts reports online and sends email or text message alerts to members whose alert criteria match the incoming report. Reports can also be aggregated by Community or Law Enforcement jurisdiction.
Members can add their community to Nation of Neighbors and use the website to discuss reports within the community, participate in community discussion, share news, photos or documents or manage upcoming events.
Woodstock Police Department on the Leading Edge
City of Woodstock has the first police department in the state of Georgia to implement the Nation of Neighbors program. Membership in Nation of Neighbors is currently open to anyone in the United States with a valid email address or cell phone number. Enter your phone number or email address on their home page at www.nationofneighbors.com and they will send you a short invitation code.
I’ll be signing up to test the program. Let me know how it goes in your neighborhood.

Hello, I have served on North Towne’s HOA board since 2004. Our little neighborhood is normally very quite and everyone loves it. Recently, however, I have received 2 notices of car break-in or attempted break-ins. I want to create a neighborhood watch program but there are MANY out there. I was very happy to see this website and the involvement our Woodstock police has with Nation of Neighbors.
Any advise will be very much welcomed.
Thank you
