More than 10 million Americans moved from one county to another during 2008. The map below from Forbes.com visualizes those moves. Black lines indicate net inward movement, red lines net outward movement.
I am proud to report that more families moved from lower California to Cherokee County than vice versa. L.A. County lead the way with 85 migrating into Cherokee and only 53 leaving Cherokee for L.A. Orange County, California sent 56 our way and we only sent 24 their way. San Diego (one of the most sought after places to live in the country) even lost the net migration battle with Cherokee, SD sent 44 our way and only 31 going back to them.
Choosy Families Choose Cherokee over California
A total of 185 families moved in Cherokee County from lower California and only 108 went the other way for a net migration of 77 more families choosing Cherokee County, GA over lower California. Granted, these numbers are from 2008, but it’ still a pretty cool stat.
