Taylor Randahl Memorial Trail is Ready to Ride (or hike)

On May 8, 2010, the City of Woodstock along with Greenprints Alliance and SORBA Woodstock, dedicated the trail system in memory of Taylor Randahl in a moving ceremony attended by over 200 of Taylor’s family and friends. Following the ceremony, the initial 1.3 miles of the ‘Avalanche Trail’ was opened for riding. Since the Greenprints Alliance’s inception in the Spring of 2009, this grassroots organization has achieved much to propel their plan to connect more than sixty miles of bike and hiking trails in Cherokee County. Geared to become the prime destination for mountain biking in the Southeast, these trails would link green space to shopping areas and neighborhoods.

Celebrate National Trails Day with REI and SORBA Woodstock

Each year REI celebrates National Trails Day to help beautify local parks and trails, and this year REI is participating with SORBA Woodstock at Rope Mill Park to help build new mountain bike trails. These new trails are partially funded by an REI grant.  SORBA is looking for volunteers, learn more here (you can even get a free REI wick-away shirt). Even better, Canyons restaurant in Woodstock will be providing a lunch onsite after completion of the project.
